One of my closest friends has been driving for about 4-5 years and he informed me that I could earn an income to support myself while looking for employment. The first month or so was really fun actually. Much to my surprise. It was meeting people and having great, interesting and often funny conversations that made it fun. Not to mention being self employeed.
If I were working my dream job right now it would be reping a product as a spokes model and doing voiceovers and maybe one day even hosting a show or acting on TV. Ultimately using my career to help others and spread a little sunshine with the love the world needs. My dream became very important to me when one day when I realized I was denying myself for no reason. All because my mother said, "No!" to me when I was a teenager when I asked if I could go to the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. I remained in the No! frequency for much of my life.
Where I grew up, to dream is a waste of time and it is foolish. I lived that "NO!" working office jobs, although for amazing companies such as the NFL, Tommy Hilfiger, Ogilvy & Mather, to name a few. Unfortunately I never felt like I fit in as a 9-5er. I can hear Dolly Parton's voice now.
Working 9 to 5
What a way to make a living
Barely gettin' by
It's all taken and no givin'
They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it!
Dolly girl! You preachin' to the choir! I can't say it better than that! My last full time job I was so stressed and crazy I had to go on paid medical leave for stress and depression. Most 9 to 5 jobs are pretty thankless. I knew if I ever expect to know what true happiness is, I have to follow my heart.
Now how I was going to make my dreams a reality I really didn't know. All I know is that I have to try. At least when I die, people can say, "She did it her way!" That is all I want.
I hope to brighten up a few 9 to 5ers day with some funny, touching and interesting stories and take them on an adventure when they get bored at work and they are on their 5th cup of coffee to keep from falling asleep.

I would hire you in a minute, sometimes I need a ride from brooklyn to the bronx and could use a cab and I support female cab drivers! Also I met you on the D-train in manhattan a while back and though we didn't stay in contact (this was when you were starting your website) I like to assume you are busy with other projects. As far as you driving a cab, you do what you gotta...just keep striving for what you want to do, many people have stories of jobs they don't necessarily want to do but wind up having to do. Michael Clark Duncan was homeless, and so was Tyler Perry, and we know of the careers they have built despite their hardships. So maybe this is just your trial by fire, you have even greater things in store for you if you keep it positive which you are doing. Anyway, i was serious about the cab thing and it would be nice to see you. I am not afraid to post my email address here, it is coolbrutha27@gmail.com so I hope you send me an email. i also have a photo on the web so maybe that will jog your memory but if you don't mind i don't want everyone who reads this looking at me so I will leave that for if you contact me. Take care and stay positive!
Thanks for sharing your story. I look forward to reading your blogs! You are such an amazing, beautiful and wonderful woman! I know that you will be able to live that dream life that you wrote about! I can totally see you as spokeswoman or talk show host. I would watch you everyday... get me a dose of love and laughter!
Peace, Love and Blessings,
Leslie
